We at Defensive TRIAD recognize and appreciate the right to carry concealed a handgun and appreciate the efforts of our local law enforcement to continue to support the residents of Placer County in their right to self defense. In order to increase your chances of surviving a violent attack, carrying a firearm for defense of your life or your loved one is a force equalizer and a valuable tool in your arsenal.
Initial CCW course:
This course is 8 hours in length and meets the requirements of Placer County for the initial CCW application process. During this course, lecture content will include instruction on the laws regarding carrying a concealed firearm, safety, anatomy of the firearm, fundamentals of marksmanship, and methods of carry. Range time will consist of instruction on presentation from a concealed carry position, making accurate groups from close contact to 15 yards and shooting on the move. It is suggested that you use the carry method in class that you intend on utilizing once you obtain your CCW permit so we can better instruct you with presentation using your preferred method of carry.
Renewal CCW course:
This course is 4 hours in length and satisfies the requirements for Placer County renewal of your current CCW permit. Refer to the Placer County Sheriff's Department website to ensure that you are within the time limits to renew your permit if your permit is currently expired. Your renewal course will focus on changes and updates in the laws surrounding California's firearms possession, concealed carry limitations as well as range qualification. While the renewal only requires 4 hours, many of our returning students opt to stay for the 8 hour class due to the dynamic and instructional component of our range sessions during the initial course.
